You wonder why you’re more successful in your professional life than in your relationship. You’ve come to New York from your hometown across the country or the globe, or maybe you grew up in NYC, and you long for that solid feeling of home in your marriage. You accomplish a lot in your life, and as a New Yorker you’ve learned to turn to experienced professional resources. Couples therapy shouldn’t be any different, since the stakes are rarely higher.
For over 25 years, couples and individuals in Manhattan and online have come to me for active, research-based help with their relationships. Rather than a cookie-cutter or canned approach, you get insights from various schools of thought that pertain to you. Your life together has its own shape, values, and dreams, and so does the relationship you hope to create. That’s what we work from. You get enough structure and tools that you leave feeling hopeful, with real next steps.
Whether you are:
- Dating and deciding whether it’s time to get engaged
- Engaged and ready for pre-marriage counseling
- Making the baby decision, or seeking prebaby or postpartum support
- Navigating infidelity, illness, or children with special needs
- Dealing with extended family conflicts
- Seeking help with the empty nest or a long-term relationship that’s gone stale or distant
- In crisis, or simply ready for a “tuneup”
…there’s a good chance we can work together.
Many of the couples in my practice are international or interfaith. I was one of the first therapists in New York City trained in discernment counseling, for couples seeking clarity about whether to work on their relationship or end the marriage.
Over the years I’ve contributed to the conversation on marriage and relationships in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Vogue, Brides, and elsewhere. But the work that matters most happens in my Upper East Side office, between the 4/5/6 and the Q, or on my secure video platform.
If this sounds like a path forward for you, email me through the message box below and I’d be glad to answer your questions or set up an appointment.
