Are you an international New Yorker? For over 20 years I have helped people from all over the world improve their relationships through globally aware counseling for individuals and couples. I offer culturally sensitive marriage and couples therapy for Asian, Latino, African, and European individuals and couples, as well as for interfaith couples.
With over one-third of New York residents born in another country, it’s hard to think of a more exciting place to live. My office is a short, pleasant walk from many of the large midtown firms, the East Side medical corridor, and the United Nations, drawing talented people from across the globe.
As we work to reach your goals, I do my best to be informed about and sensitive to the ways you weave together your personal and cultural experience, family life and values. My personal and professional experience with immigrants and expats, including in my own family, give me an understanding and appreciation of the gifts and challenges life in our very mobile world presents.
I love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many of the countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa the people in my practice come from. My books have been translated into Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Turkish and Portuguese.
I am a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, serving people of all faiths, communities and traditions, and have been co-moderator of the pastoral-counseling list on the Internet, with members across the globe. You may have seen me interviewed in The Independent, on CNN International, or on AJE.
I also see people who are visiting from abroad and seek marriage counseling or couples therapy while they are here in New York.
My office is conveniently located two blocks from the Empire State Building and near many of the city’s tourist attractions and best restaurants.
When you return home, we can arrange to follow up on our work via my encrypted practice portal and secure video platform, safeguarding your privacy more fully than email and Skype.
